Abigail Harte

Inclusive facilitator & Empathetic cheerleader

Abigail is passionate about communication and storytelling through theatre, dance, music and the visual arts, and is grateful to have a career based on all of these. Even more meaningful to her is being able to encourage and enable young people to access and enjoy this career path too. Her experience ranges from treading the boards with Badinage Theatre company at the Edinburgh Fringe, MacRobert Arts Centre and village halls in Central Scotland, to working as a wardrobe assistant for BBC Scotland, to being a teaching assistant supporting Deaf children to thrive in a mainstream primary school setting. In between that, she’s been a project co-ordinator in the live events and conference industry.

Abigail has 15 years’ experience working with Youth Theatres in England and Scotland. For 4 years she was Education and Outreach Administrator at Salisbury Playhouse supporting Stage ’65 youth theatre (2005 winners of the NT Connections Festival), managing an award-winning work experience programme and curating the Children’s Theatre programme. She then joined Youth Theatre Arts Scotland as Project Co-ordinator, helping to deliver the National Festival of Youth Theatre for 3 years running. Most recently she was Administrator at Strange Town Youth Theatre supporting the delivery of regular youth theatre sessions and performances of newly written plays at the Scottish Storytelling Centre and Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, as well as co-ordinating ‘play in a week’ holiday projects. A number of the youth theatre members were represented by Strange Town Young Actors Agency and featured in film, TV and theatre in the UK and internationally.

As an administrator, Abigail is rather partial to an organised spreadsheet and a tidy, well stocked and colourful stationery drawer!

How does she measure success? Receiving feedback that says: “Being given that opportunity changed my life – thank you!”
