Jayla James is a professional dance artist from Nova Scotia, Canada, now excited to be on her new journey in London, England. She has performed worldwide as both a dancer and aerialist, most recently completing her fourth contract with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, performing in the aqua show Aqua 80 aboard Oasis of the
Seas. Jayla has also appeared in Spectra’s Cabaret on Ovation and Anthem of the Seas. Other credits include the Hulu series Washington Black, music videos, and live performances with various international companies in both commercial and concert dance.
Jayla is trained in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Commercial, Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, and Musical Theatre, with aerial training expanding her repertoire. She began dancing at age four and went on to train at George Brown College’s Commercial Dance Program in Toronto, as well as The Room — a commercial dance program in Los Angeles.
Alongside performing, Jayla is passionate about developing the next generation of dancers. She has years of teaching experience and founded a commercial dance training program in her hometown to provide more opportunities for aspiring professional dancers. Her classes focus on building confidence, versatility, and a strong technical foundation in a supportive and motivating environment. Jayla is super
